About Academy for Business and Finance

The Academy for Business and Finance seeks to give students an effective, hands-on introduction into the world of business, as well as a thorough academic program in mathematics, humanities, foreign language, and the arts. Applicants should be prepared for a rigorous curriculum that includes four years of a foreign language, four years of literature and history, three years of science, four years of mathematics, and optional electives.. Over their four years, students learn business principles in multiple high-level core courses such as ethics, business law, finance, management, economics, and marketing.

The Academy for Business and Finance prepares students well for the college experience through various courses and interactions with the guidance department. While many graduates continue their business education in college, some may decide to pursue a different field of interest.  The Academy of Business and Finance program includes an emphasis on internationalism. This approach to secondary education will provide students with the communication skills and multicultural understanding that is so valuable in today’s global business arena.

GEC Background

Lydia Chen, Mary Heck, and Brianna Conte participated in the 2013 Global Enterprise Competition and gained valuable experience. The three students are participating in a team again this year, with the addition of several other students from diverse backgrounds and interests. With a combined experience of past GEC competitions, worldly events, and differing academic paths, the team of 8 students is working hard to be successful in the 2014 competition.

The business has the potential to be viable but more connection is required in setting plans for farmers and the venture.
