About Tepekent

Tepekent Anatolian High School is a public high school located in the city of Büyükçekmece of İstanbul province of Turkey. It was founded in 2010. Current education language is Turkish but as a fact of being an Anatolia High School, it heaviliy focuses on teaching foreign languages of English and German. Education period is 4 years. It has 1 principal, deputy principals, 430 students, 32 teachers. The school contains 25 classrooms, 1 science lab, 1 gym, 1 computer laboratory, 1 music and 1 drawing rooms.

Due to the Turkish Education System in 10th grade of school, students select one of the three sections which are ‘Foreign Language Based’, ‘Maths-Science Based’ and ‘Turkish-Maths Based’. Although the hours of each course change in these sections, students are responsible for all of the main courses like Turkish, History, PE, etc.

The mission of the school is to bring up young people whose intellectual abilities are not limited by LYS (the Matriculation Exam for University); have developed higher reasoning skills; are adept at using technology; know how to access information; have a working knowledge of a second foreign language and participate in social events around them.

GEC Background

This is Tepekent Anatolian High School’s first time competing in the GEC.
